This is post, You and your child can read and compare two different passages that are centered around the same theme. Today’s theme is about making a reservation in a restaurant.

The passages were written around an A1 English level.

Passage One

Waitress: Hello. This is Sal’s Pizzeria. How can I help you?

Customer: I’d like to make a dinner reservation.

Waitress: Sure. Which night would you like to come?

Customer: This Friday.

Waitress: Okay. For how many people?

Customer: Four people.

Waitress: And for what time?

Customer: 7:00 pm.

Waitress: I’m sorry, but we have no tables available at that time. I can give you a table for 7:30 pm. Is that okay?

Customer: That’s fine.

Waitress: And what’s your name?

Customer: Felix Sands.

Waitress: Okay, Mr. Sands. I have your reservation. We will see you on Friday. Thank you for calling.

Customer: Thanks. Bye.

Passage Two

Waitress: Sal’s Pizzeria. Can I help you?

Customer: I’d like to book a table.

Waitress: Sure. No problem. When would you like to come?

Customer: Do you have a table available for your special brunch this Sunday?

Waitress: Yes, but how many people are in your party? We are almost full.

Customer: I need a table for two.

Waitress: Then that’s no problem. I have a table available at 11:00 am.

Customer: Perfect.

Waitress: And what is your name?

Customer: Felix Sands.

Waitress: Okay, Mr. Sands. Thank you for calling. We will see you on Sunday.

Customer: Great. Thank you.
